The Balochistan government, in coordination with the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), has launched an ambitious 10-year development program designed to position Gwadar as a premier modern economic and coastal hub. This initiative, which aligns with the second phase of the Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan (2025–2035), focuses on sustainable, people-oriented growth that balances industrial expansion with high-end tourism.

Boosting Tourism and Recreational Infrastructure To elevate Gwadar’s appeal as a top-tier travel destination, the new development program includes several major tourism-oriented projects. Key highlights include:

"The Gwadar Development Authority has unveiled an ambitious 10-year development program, prioritizing world-class tourism resorts, recreational parks, and essential infrastructure to transform the city into a global coastal hub."

Coastal Development: The development of the Coastal Beach Resort, Foreigners Resort, and the GDA Club.

Recreational Spaces: The expansion of leisure facilities, including the Grab Beach Park and various green parks.

Cultural and Social Growth: Ongoing efforts to integrate tourism with local heritage, aiming to showcase the vibrant culture of the region to international visitors.

Sustainable Growth for a Smart City The 10-year vision extends beyond tourism, emphasizing essential infrastructure upgrades to support the city's rapidly growing population. Planned improvements include:

Utilities: Installation of a new 20-million-gallon desalination plant and extensive solarization projects to ensure a sustainable energy and water supply.

Connectivity: Expansion of road networks and underground power cabling to modernize urban living standards.

Community Welfare: Special focus on welfare projects for the local fishing community, alongside urgent upgrades to sewerage and drainage systems in areas like Surbandar and Pishkan.

As Gwadar continues to evolve, these strategic investments aim to ensure the city provides a high quality of life for its residents while becoming a globally competitive destination for trade and tourism.
